Disbelief

‘The Symbol of Death’ by Karsten "Jagger" Jäger

Our music is Death Metal like our record company writes on the stickers on our new CD, “massive, colossal Death Metal power”. We're sounding unique, we've built up over the years our own tools to make music. We're working with atmosphere and messages in our songs, so we're free in our own Disbelief Universum.

We've started to work for ‘The Symbol of Death’ in 2010 with the first songs. Then we've to stop the songwriting process for a long time because of some lineup changes. It took a long time to find the right drummer. We've found Fab Regmann as a drummer, he was the perfect one for us to transport our new material with his style of drumming. So it was a pleasure for us that we've recorded the new album as a complete band, that's very important and I think you can hear this on the album, that's awesome!

All the material, riffs and structures were arranged by our bass player Joe. After all his ideas we've met us all the time in our rehearsal room where we've arranged all the songs together. Then after we've arranged the songs we've recorded them by us and I've done my vocal stuff on it. All that's going on surround from the music itself. The mood and atmosphere of every single song decide what's going on with the lyrics. Always the lyrics are coming from the music, that's the best kind of working out my vocal stuff.

Eliran Kantor did the album cover artworks for bands like Testament, Soulfly, etc. Our label Listenable Records told us from Elran's cover artworks and so the contact came together. I've sent Eliran two songs and the lyrics of them from our pre production. They were ‘Full of terrors’ and ‘The Symbol of Death’. He was inspired by the lines of the lyric from the song ‘Full of Terrors’ “I'm blessing you, you're blessing me, it is hypocrisy”. These words inspiring Eliran to do this artwork. It shows two statues they're blessing and stabbing each other at the same time. For me, it's like a mirror of them what's going on in this crazy world where we live in. At the end, somebody stabs you a knife in your back, a problem of human being. Greed and money it's the destiny of the humans, perhaps since day one, I think.

Inspirations for me are things that impress myself or fascinating me, that can be the series Game of Thrones, directly the title track ‘The Symbol of Death’ is inspired by Game of Thrones, it's about a force, an enemy you've to fight against and you don't know how.  Which weapons do we have? This can be either in a family, where the father or mother can be like a tyrant against the whole family. The Circle is inspired by the men from the iron isles. It's about the ritual of baptism, to drown a man 'til he is drowning and then they give him the chance for breathing by himself and either he's breathing by himself again or he's dead. What's dead may never die, only the strongest survive. I like that in one kind. I've dedicated the song Into Glory Ride to the wildlings. I like their attitude. Other inspirations are the normal life, what*s going on in this crazy, wicked world.

It's still exciting to create music for Disbelief. It's worth to find out more details about our sound. I'm still hungry, it will be a pleasure to play all the new songs live. Thank you for your interesting questions and greetings to all our fans in your country, hope to see you all when we're staying on tour for ‘The Symbol of Death’.
